In today’s world, having a social media presence for your business or agency is simply a necessary evil.
Last week, we spoke with Zachary Daniels, owner of Daniels Digital and Professor at Assumption University about why that is.
The conversation led to many discoveries about why having a presence on social media matters. Overall answer is simple: everyone has one. The amount of people on social media makes it the number one way for you to get exposure and reach for your business.
But there’s even more to it.
Prove That You Are an Authentic Company
Let’s be honest… Most people will check your Facebook and Instagram profile before they even look at your website. With this knowledge in mind, it’s important to establish a platform that shows legitimacy.
You can do this in a number of ways:
- Make sure that you have enough followers–just so it doesn’t look as though your company was created yesterday.
- Have a steady stream of content–3 posts per week is a good rule to follow!
- Be more than just a brand… add a personalized touch! Include a variety of content so consumers can get to know the faces behind the operation.
Utilize the Collaboration of Personal & Business
Aside from the fact that having a presence on social media is necessary because of the engagement, it is also important because it allows you to connect with your customers.
It seems as if separating the personal side and business side of a company is a thing of the past. Now, consumers want to see more behind the scenes. However, this can be a double edged sword and you have to know your audience.
Some people will still argue that certain platforms aren’t meant for personal content. But, if you curate your audience well, they will likely want to know about the person they are doing business with. Social media is a great place to put this collaboration in full effect!
Consumer Convenience
Another positive aspect of having a social media presence for your business is that it allows for consumer convenience. A potential customer can find you on social media and with just a few scrolls and clicks, they can find any and all information that they came searching for–depending on the efficiency of your profile!
Not to mention, many customers will leave reviews in the comments section which will allow consumers to see what people are saying about the company before they choose to go to the next step.
Also, many social platforms now have a setting where you can indicate if your account is a business account. This allows you to have access to features that will help build your profile to be as sufficient as a website. Think of it as a separate online portfolio.
All in all, having a social media presence for your business really does matter. Plus, there are way more pros than cons to utilizing social media for your business AND it’s free! Of course, if you want to take your social media to the next level, you may have to pay for some promotional features–but getting started will cost you nothing.
